It is preventive, protective, health primitive and curative in nature. At the same time
herbal remedies are self contained, and nutritive rendering them harmless and non toxic. This provides a constructive approach against destructive forces.

Ayurveda is not man made but is believed to be divine gift. It is for us to study, seek, search and take the benefits from the treasure of knowledge.

Ayurveda is mainly based on herbs, plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables and all vegetation that grows around us in plenty. It is our native system based on the peculiar indian conditions. Further whatever is available on our own country is bound to be more suitable in creating good health to us rather than borrowed knowledge as well as materials. Charaka samhita stresses the same point.

Ayurveda begins when everything fails and when the treatment is uncertain and prolonged, ayurvedic approach is the right choice since it cures chronic and stubborn diseases by its deep-rooted treatment procedures and drugs.

Sleeplessness [ INSOMNIA ]

Sleeplessness [ INSOMNIA ]
This means less sleep or disturbed sleep or lack of sleep. According to ayurveda, the amount of sleep you need depends on your mind-body constitution or body type. People with Kapha constitution need the most sleep - about eight or nine hours in order to feel rested. Pittas are next, with a need of seven to eight hours. For Vatas six to seven hours of sleep should be enough.

Also what stage of life are you in determines the hours of sleep required. For small babies can sleep as much as 15 or 16 hours out of every 24. Children frequently sleep 10 hours or more. At the other extreme, elderly people rarely enjoy a sound, unbroken sleep of more than four or five hours.

According to Ayurveda childhood to be the Kapha stage of life. Adulthood is Pitta time, and old age is the Vata stage of life. So the same principle applies here as with body types: we need the most sleep during the Kapha stage, the least during Vata time.

We need: Our sleep needs are largely determined by your Ayurvedic body type :

  • Vata type = 6-7 hours
  • Pitta type = 7-8 hours
  • Kapha type = 8-9 hours

Mainly from ayurvedia point of view insomnia has two main causes

  1. Vata aggravation :

Vata governs movement everywhere in the body. An unbalanced Vata creates the environment conducive to the initiation of insomnia - the inability to sleep well. Anxiety, worry, fear, and restlessness are the main signs of Vata aggravation. Each of these can also cause disturbed Vata. Stress, excessive exercise or sexual activity for your body type, eating a too- light diet, fasting, staying up late all create agitation in the central nervous system and throw Vata out of balance. One does not need to have a Vata body type to have an aggravated vata.
  2. Disturbed lifestyle :

Due to whatever reason when you break your own regular habit patterns, you are prone to get. As for examples crossing time zones when traveling or staying up late working several nights in a row. These disturbances in our daily routine puts us out of order and it seems we cannot get back into our usual rhythm and then can't seem to get back into the same pattern.

According to ayurveda nature also has its own rhythm. The natural cycles run through phases of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. We are healthiest when we organize our lives in tune with nature's rhythms.

Both of these causes - vata aggravation and disturbances of routine - can easily be corrected by Ayurvedic methods and treatment, herbal preparations. Yoga, breathing exercises, dietary pattern changes, oil massages, life pattern changes, distressing all help in solving this problem of sleep.

To fight against drowsiness-excess sleep try some simple steps and see and if not consult the physician.

This is for kapha type people :

  • Aviod sweets, dairy, refined flour products like pasta, white bread, sphaghetti and other wheat products, and meat. Eat a diet that is lighter.

  • Take warm food. Use less oil, dairy, and sugar for everyday meals.

  • Spicy food, such as Indian or Mexican, is good for you. But stay away from deep-fried or cheese-laden choices.

  • For curbing your appetite take salads at intervals which is good.

  • At any mealtime start each meal with half a teaspoon of grated ginger mixed with lemon juice and a very little salt.

  • Avoid rich, creamy desserts.

  • Get some vigorous exercise for at least half an hour every day during the Kapha period of the morning, between 6:00 and 10:00 A.M.

  • Take Ginger tea in the morning and late afternoon is good.

The reasons for loss of the sexual potency is quite obvious as the fast paced modern life style full of stress will certainly affect the libido hence lower the energy level. Resulting into an unsatisfactory sexuality, which in general affects the whole personality of a man.

According to Ayurveda we have therapies - all are time tested proven and totally safe without any side effects, like herbal food supplements or herbal-oil massage therapy. It is also effective in the problem faced by ageing. In this case proper diet, yoga& exercises and Ayurvedic food supplements/medicines (herbal) can do wonders.

In totality we here at Dhanvantri Health have the answer to the most commonly faced health problems of men.

In Charaka Samhita our ancient Ayurvedic text provides complete sexual solutions over 3000 years ago And the time-frozen, stone-carved, erotic sculptures in the temples at Khajuraho and Konarak leave millions of visitors utterly awe-struck by their sheer beauty, elegance and variety. An undying testimony to how intrinsic sex was to the daily lives of people in ancient India.

The importance of sex in our lives has remained quite unchanged. The crucial points to be kept in mind in relation to the same being :
  • Increased vata will make you more emotionally vulnerable and fear-prone, increased pitta will move you to anger and even frustration and enhanced kapha will make you more possessive. Sex is an integral part of our daily habits (Dinacharya).

  • An absolutely satisfying sexual union, when developed over time, bestows you and your partner with health and vitality and the best time would be night time and two hours after meals is the ideal time for intimacy, as it is “kapha” time. Also touch, smell, food, music and ambience play a vital role in developing, increasing and prolonging intimacy. The frequency of sex depends on your constitution and seasons - kapha types indulge in sex more frequently than your vata and pitta types thanks to the extra stamina they possess Unhealthy sex means perverted or unsatisfying sex has adverse effects on your mental and physical health, as it aggravates your vital energies doshas and reduces immunity

  • For best results, each of the partners should be physically, emotionally and spiritually involved with the other. Foreplay plays a very important role for sexual gratification.
  • Vata types might find satisfaction in changing partners. While the difficult-to-quench-their-desires pitta types are usually in quest for more intensity.

For more and better sex therefore, one can practice Vajikaran therapy (virlification) - that part of Ayurveda which enhances male fertility and potency. Use of similar (aphrodisiac supplements) instantly induces sexual pleasure and excitement, increases sexual stamina and promotes fertile seminal secretions.

  • PREMATURE EJACULATION is most common problem of sexual dissatisfaction is premature ejaculation in males. Because it cut shorts the duration of intimacy and the couple cannot achieve full orgasm.

  • UNSATISFACTORY ERECTION OR loss of intrest in most cases the root cause for this is very psychological. However, it is imperative to first check on all the pathological / physical causes. After treating them, the patients' selff-confidence needs to be restored too.

  • LACK OF LIBIDO The modern days man has a very hectic lifestyle, which causes severe tension and excessive fatigue within individuals. In more than 90 percent of the cases the main cause for lack of libido and unsatisfactory sexual performance.

  • IN OLIGOSPERMIA is male infertility is often due to the sperm count falling very low below the fertility level. A large number of sperms are not motile, viable or exhibit morphological abnormalities.

  • SPERMATORRHOEA (NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS) means involuntary discharge of semen without undergoing orgasm. A distressing symptom in many patients, it leads to psychosomatic complaints as lack of concentration, headaches, excessive sweating, giddiness etc. Usually happens during sleep.

  • WEAKNESS IN THE ELDERLY with the hectic lifestyles of this age and advancing years, the male desire for sexual intercourse tends to taper off early and sexual intimacy tends to become unsatisfactory.

  • IMPOTENCY is actually psychogenic in origin, it is directly related to anxiety regarding sexual performance.
